ABOUT JMG

Founded in 2013, Julia Martin Gallery is located in Nashville’s Wedgewood Houston arts district in an historic L&N Railroad house. JMG encourages visitors to linger and contemplate art in an environment that is welcoming and inclusive rather than a white cube. Primarily focused on local and regional folk & contemporary visual art, JMG also enjoys providing a platform for rare musical experiences and performance. The space is owned and operated by artist & Nashville native, Julia Martin.

Julia Martin is a multi-disciplinary fine artist and curator, born and raised in Nashville proper. In the last intact L&N railroad house in Wedgewood Houston, the opportunity was presented by fellow TN native, Loney John Hutchins. Since opening its doors at the tail end of 2013, to a sold out solo exhibition on Friday the 13th at 444 Humphreys St., JMG has established itself in the heart of Nashville’s art scene.

Julia is a warm loving supporter of emerging artists and seasoned mid-career artists alike. A practicing artist herself, she operates without leashing fellow artists to contracts, strict rules or boundaries. “Times are changing in every way imaginable. The autonomy of artists is now more important than ever.” - JM
